It makes all the sense in the world for the iraqis to determine the future of their country and of our stay. I wish the South Vietnamese had given us that option so many years ago. The war against al quaeda is not in iraq or in afganistan for that matter---its in pakistan and mostly in a particular part of pakistan South Wahiristan. Thats where we need to focus so maliki might be giving us a gift here.
