Maybe, but I agree with the gist of your argument.

As for Obama, I don't consider making the progressive tax curve even sharper to be a "tax cut," even if I end up paying less taxes anyway. His proposal to lift the FICA cap (except for the curious "donut hole" between $100K and $250K) would essentially be a tax hike to the tune of 12.5 percentage points.

I guess if we're going to soak the rich, we might as well soak them big.
