However, without the policies that pushed up the misery index, our economy would have kept on struggling. Because there was no other way out. Nice. Rationalizing the worst economic conditions since the Great Depression. Under Carter, we saw interest rates climb to the highest levels in history (other than under insanely irregular economic conditions). And the result was a real estate crisis that makes the bullshit we're hearing about today look like child's play. And inflation that destroyed any hope for the middle class ever getting caught up, let alone "ahead". How quickly we forget.
