It is a consensus view, except for the extreme Left, that Reagan ended the Cold War. Furthermore, many, if not most, credible commentators on the subject believe SDI contributed substantially.

We could argue on about how much was due to SDI and how much was due to the courage and strategy of Reagan. But the argument that the Soviet Union would, somehow, have collapsed without Reagan's leadership is bullshit.

Reagan is essentially, single-handedly responsible for ending the Cold War. And pretty much everyone who witnessed it knows it.
