If he does, I think we can figure out a way to accommodate him.

The point is, Maliki could say, "We want this timeline for withdrawal", and Bush might say, "Well, we need to avoid specific timelines but can come up with some benchmarks that can serve as a timeline of sorts".

I think we will be able to reach an accommodation that gets our guys out within a reasonable time frame while it maintains the hard-fought security situation.

The important point is to get away from arbitrary dates that will cause problems down the road. I think they'll be able to listen to reason on these issues.
