Very interesting article. I disagree with the stance T. Boone takes toward the Canadian oil sands - although it wouldn't surprise me if a lot of folks agree with him. Pretty arrogant position to assume the US is entitled to first call. I do hope Canada will remember the threat China represents to the free world however. As they become more dependant I think the world situation will become more dangerous. I think we need to get moving on the hugh shale oil deposits here in the US and start developing sugar beets (anything but corn) for ethanol. Some of the same technology may apply to recovering oil sand oil as required for the shale oil deposits so in that sense we might be a big benefactor in the oil sands as the technology is developed and they eventually begin go deeper for the deposits.

I agree with his stance on the call on Iraq oil. I know first hand that the US is spending billions of $ developing the infrastructure (trying to develop it). While some of those $ are going to US companies - I believe most of them are going to foreign companies while our young men die for what may be a lost cause. I am working with a Kuwaiti company on a project in Kuwait that is getting many many millions of those $. I was against going in (against the war) but now we are there and many lives have been lost. We aren't there for the oil - just as we aren't in Afganistan for the rocks (borrowing a comment from T. Boone) but since the price has and continues to be paid I think we should expect the Iraqis to pay up. Assuming of course a stable government emerges (very questionable).

I'm a big Ron Paul supporter so I don't favor the way big government is taking (has taken!) our freedoms. I am very much against our foreign intervention policy (I think we have a military presence in 133 countries now - sad!). Ashamed to say I voted Bush in his first run but proud to say I voted Libertarian last time - and I don't even remember who was running). I believe the US $ is headed for total collapse unless we stop our foreign intervention policy and take care of things at home. Balance the budget first. I'm sure that if we would spend the same money we are wasting on the war developing alternate energy sources we would be out of this mess in a single decade. Oppps! I'm starting to ramble on now! ;-)
