And you lend credence to the greater fool theory. Do you know the history of Afghanistan? The Soviet Union was not the first empire to be held at bay by that country. Afghanistan has had of history of foiling the best laid plans of mice and men. Afghan fighters are known for their ferocity making up for what they lack in weaponry with their knowledge of the Afghan terrain. Even now the Taliban take back some of their strongholds even as the US and NATO have 60,000 boots on the ground.

bin Laden is dead. The Pakistanis have been more effective at capturing AQ leadership. Leave it to them....in exchange for the billions of aid the US provides, let them ferret out AQ and keep them on the run.
