Morton Halperin supported the bill. He was in the nixon admin and suspected of leaking which he didnt and was on the list for years. He was a prof of mine and a decent guy and said though not perfect in preventing what he experience it was good enough because of the nature of the enemy we face. Obama might know this guy and was influenced by him. Obama is a smart dude and a centrist by nature although a liberal at heart. I dont think he will cross the lines that conservative america has in place. 1. choice but no late term or frivolous abortions 2. kill child rapists with prejudice and glee 3. guns settled law 4. economic policy progressive conservative U of Chicago 5. iraq tbd 6. talk with iran but have big stick. Here is problem is perception of him as weak by iranians much like krush saw kennedy. Biggest danger voting for obama. McCain may be crazy but he is feared and like reagan dont mess with him.
