Look on Wikipedia... there's a diary from the year he died talking about his death, as well as a bust and some coins that were done during his lifetime. Also, we know who the cited contemporary historians were and when they lived. Not so for the Gospels.

There is a shitload of stuff about Alexander that was mythological, but we know he lived and the basics of his life. We know what lands he conquered and ruled.
