Kemble,

Sorry that you bought CPQ (probably on my advice) just before the fall. I had better luck. I assumed that Compaq had a very good quarter (CORRECT), that manufacturing efficiencies would permit high margins on low cost computers (CORRECT), and that the stock would run before and after earnings (WRONG). So on Wednesday, I sold DELL and tried to buy CPQ. Funny thing happened on my way to the market:

I told my broker to buy CPQ at the market. He entered the order at the last sale price of 76 1/2 (as a stop order). CPQ moved up so quickly Wednesday, that the order never filled, but I didn't know that! When I found out today, CPQ was at 71 1/2 and going down. DELL down too. How did I get to be so blessed?

Jack
