Am not sure. According to Peabody's financials, they sold their coal for average $21/ton.

- Would a 10% drop in caloric value mean a 90% drop in price?

Not as much as that according to the table presented by Botox. Seems like it needs a drop 30% in quality to cause a drop of 90% in price per ton.
