Bechtel to prepare feasibility study of coal-to-gas conversion project in Poland polishmarket.com.pl 2008-07-08 American Bechtel – an engineering, construction, and project management corporation, is to carry out a coal gasification feasibility study for the Pulawy Nitric Plant, the company has informed in a communiqué. “Under the contract Bechtel will establish the details of the investment i.e. necessary investment funds, technical and technological configuration of the investment, production capacity, the project of installation and an implementation schedule” – the announcement says. Pulawy Nitric Plant did not reveal the value of the contract. The company earlier informed it was looking to receive the coal gasification feasibility study by end-2008, TV Biznes reports. The decision to launch the investment, likely to follow the study, is to be made early next year. The company admits it might sell some shares to finalize the coal-to-gas project which is estimated to take 5 years. According to TV Biznes Pulawy Nitric Plant is expecting the gasification installation to cover half of the company’s need for gas, which is approximately 450 million cubic meters per year. In June 2007 the plant signed an intention letter with Bogdanka colliery for coal gasification estimated at PLN 2 billion.
