Roger,

I think the problem with building the modem into the PC is that some customers may want ADSL, others Cable modems, others an Ethernet LAN connection, others only 56k, etc.

Easier to include a new high speed interface to any of these devices.

Personally, I think most people would prefer to buy the ADSL modem, rather than lease it.
