Hagee's intent was not so much "astonishing his audience" but rather to justify and sanctify Talmudic Judaism and Israel's rejection of Jesus as the Messiah. That was clearly the intent of the book and of his video message. Inherent in this modern worship of Israel and Talmudic Judaism is an acceptance and subtle justification for Jews rejection and vilification of Jesus. I've been warning Christians on SI about this very thing for over 12 years.
