I'm pretty sure that most people don't realize the way it's always worked. Even Al Gore said, "Most people think Social Security is a program where the government saves your money and gives it back to you when you retire."

If most people want "welfare for the elderly," then they should at least be honest with what it is. A tax on working Americans to supplement the income of retirees.

Any system is "flexible." Just change it.

The people who came up with Social Security never imagined that the worker-to-retiree ratio will eventually dwindle down to 2:1. What will that cost us, Chris?
