jrhana,

In general, the mechanism by which aspirin works can be achieved better by taking extra omega 3 and by limiting omega 6 fatty acids.

I am not sure about the exact applicability for colorectal cancer, but there is a metastudy out that suggests it is applicable:

Omega-3 to cut colon cancer: meta-analysis
By Stephen Daniells

25-Oct-2007 - A pooled analysis of the small but ever-growing body of science of omega-3 and colorectal cancer indicates more fish oil does protect against the cancer.

Here is even a better one. An actual new, long term study suggests the same:

Omega-3 linked to lower colorectal cancer risk
By Stephen Daniells

16-May-2008 - Regular and long-term consumption of omega-3 fatty acids and oil fish may slash the risk of developing colorectal cancer by 40 per cent, suggests a new study.

Over an impressive 22 years of study, both omega-3 and fish intake were associated with cancer risk reduction in the colon and rectum, according to findings by researchers from Harvard and Columbia University published in the journal Cancer Epidemiology, Biomarkers & Prevention.

Omega 3s don't have the same side effect as aspirin, but, in fact, are essensial for life.
