America is not free with the rightwing in charge. Not one bit. They want fascism. Habeus corpus, they want out. A free independent press, they want replaced by malicious propaganda. Individual rights, they want replaced by corporate rights. Civil rights, no emphasis. Balance of powers, no way they want any of that. Privacy rights, forget about it, they can wiretap anyone they want now, no warrants needed. Rights to sue corporations, they want that gone or limited so it's not worth it. Pollution rights, yes they want pollutors to be protected. And as for freedom of speech, they make sure they have corporate monopolies in many areas of the country over the radio especially. And so half the country doesn't get the real story about anything.
All of this is what our FOunding Fathers and Eisenhower warned us about. Fascism can come to the USA. In fact, it has already. But fortunately it looks like we are going to beat able to beat the bastards and throw them all out. |
