Iraq war cost $1.2 trillion nytimes.com Including interest, since we borrowed the money to finance the war, the Iraq war has cost $1.6 trillion usatoday.com Ignoring interest, the total Congressional appropriations for the War on Terror to date = $700B fas.org So we have guesses from $700B to $1.6 trillion. Split the difference and we're at $1.15. Round it down and we're still at $1 trillion. What did Americans get for that $1 trillion? Give me an answer. What benefit did we get that will repay us for $1 trillion?
