good point, maybe a bullet proof glass cover would not add enough weight to off set the advantage, or maybe a sliding steel cover would work if the roof had sensors to detect hail falling on the roof, or maybe the research i heard that they are trying to add solar collectors into paint that could cover the car body and dents won't damage the collectors unlike most likely dents to today's solor panels (glass) will cause eventual shorts.
