koan, I agree with you. In business, the idea itself is often only 20-30% of the ingredients for success. The management team is the other 70-80%. If you have a strong, intelligent management team, then they can make a success of most anything. VCs know this and have made money for years off of this principle.
Same thing goes for our government. We need to elect the smartest, most capable of our citizens. We don't need to agree with 100% of their policies. Just pick the 2-3 most important issues and then vote for the most capable candidate that lines up with those. For example, I don't agree with 50% of what the Dems are for. However, on the big issues of our day (energy, Iraq, Pay As You Go budget balancing), I line up perfectly with Dems. Of all the Dem candidates, it became clear to me early on that Obama surpassed all of them in raw talent and mental acuity. As far as policies go, they all looked pretty much the same to me with a few slight differences that were inconsequential.
Hillary's supporters are trying accentuate differences that are minimal because they are still sour grapes. Obama is every bit as smart or smarter than Hillary, and 10 times more able to get people to like him and to use that drive consensus. He will be a very effective President. He has the potential to be one of the best in this nation's history, not to mention destroying the black/white race issue for all time. |
