It is curious. I have read articles criticizing how they calculate GDP. In addition, we have those backward revisions all the time. So it seems to me that sometimes the government will inflate the numbers and then revise them later downwards, in order to soften the blow and misdirect people hoping they won't be paying attention to the revise numbers. I'm no spring chicken. I've been around awhile and what's happening right now feels a heck of a lot like a recession to me. What's worse is that it feels like the very start of one, not the end of one. I bet we'll still be talking about how bad things are 6 months from now. Things won't begin to look better or pick up until 2nd half of 2009, in my humble opinion.
