So why would LU buy ASND, especially right after picking up Livingston? ASND is still a big chunk of change, and LU can't do a pooling of interests. And wouldn't it make the $650M Livingston purchase largely superfluous?

I'm skeptical. IFMX(e) had a similar 15% runup on heavy volume on buyout rumors, just before one of the few remaining intact pieces of roof caved in. Now it's trading 25% lower than before that runup.

However, I did cover my short Nov 35 calls at a minimal loss (3/16). Just seemed more prudent to go with the flow on ASND for now.
