At 2.6GHz, Nehalem will be good enough for the most demanding desktop user(assuming it is 30% faster than phenom). Who is going to buy the higher clock Nehalem and the Core 2 Quad. Both Intel and AMD desktop revenues will drop. It is not going to benefit Intel or AMD.

Unless the intention is to get rid of AMD before the law suit go to the court. HP and Acer will not like it. Without AMD, HP and Acer will be less profitable. HP and Acer margin were less than 3% before AMD launched the opteron and athlon.
