KEP,

Are you also opposed to subsidies for nuke plants. Without subsidies, those nuke plants won't be built. With a $10 Trillion debt, where do we get the money to build nuke plants?

Private investors.

Nuclear industry didn't get direct subsidy, only loan guarantees. These are mainly to to reduce the risk that the government will screw the investors in nuclear plants (as it happened on numerous occassions in the past, nearly killing the industry). The loan guarantees are there only for first few plants, to get the industry back in business.

I don't see a problem in government helping various alternative energy sources get off the ground. I am against a long term, ongoing subsidies.

Joe
