It is interesting that for someone who claims to be so confident about the superiority of G*'s design you spend an inordinate amount of time commenting and worrying about it. The only design advantage that G* has over I* is CDMA and that is no where near what was initially claimed for potential capacity. Satellite to satellite links is clearly a better design than bent pipe. Of course it is much more expensive. However, it will be faster, phone to satellite to satellite to phone versus phone to higher satellite to ground back to higher satellite again then to phone. In addition, there are the battery advantages already discussed here for the lower orbit. There is an article in wired news discussing G* problems with there necessarily much more complicated ground stations. I can just see Motorola quaking in their boots, they have proven that they have possibly the most efficient satellite production line in the world and
that they can meet all deadlines in this entirely new arena. Once again, I am also an investor in LOR and G* but all this inaccurate rah rah stuff does'nt provide anything. The demand out there is so great that at least for the next few years G*, I* and LOR will all be wildly successful.
