Not a bear by nature, but circumstances require it.

Yes, the important things still exist.

A child's smile, a beautiful sunset, etc.

All done best when financially safe.

Stock market will recover. But when?

We have not had a market recovery - one in which an actual inflation adjusted gain can be measured - for a very long time.

I haven't put pencil to paper, but if the Dow and other measures are adjusted for inflation, it is obvious that they have remained stagnant or gone down for a very long time.

Unfortunately, this is hitting at a critical time, when boomers are beginning to retire. And this 'this' now includes inflation.

Gotta see things for what they are.

No sugarcoating, no wishful thinking allowed in this game.

Edit: Believe it or not, many bears are optimists. We have seen how the financial system has been usurped, fiddled, spun, plundered, etc., by thugs, miscreants and thieves. We yearn for better days, for times when a man's word was his bond, when things could be done on a handshake, when no one sliced and diced the meaning of the word 'is.'

But bears are ultimately realists, though disappointed ones.
