Looks as though TD-SCDMA isn't working as hoped: Message 24760904

Did you see that CDMA is to get a huge push in China? Message 24758268 No more goofing around living in cast off PHS from Japan and anachronistic GSM from Euroserf world. They are going gung ho with CDMA. That will no doubt be in 800MHz for the most part, with 450MHz where better done there such as countryside.

They will also gear up for OFDM/CDMA multimode with WiMAX/Wi-Fi thrown in, I guess.

The fun has begun,

Perhaps your telecom travels in China recently included aspects of CDMA discussions. With that much money sloshing around it would be surprising if you weren't in attendance. $12bn this year is real money, even with big spenders.

Gung Ho,
Mqurice

PS: Another idea, instead of Taiwan supplying loads of CDMA gear to China, is that China and Taiwan could bomb each other to smithereens. China is apparently keen on that option and it would certainly provide a LOT of entertainment as the Iraqi conflict winds down and Afghanistan's conflict is in dribs and drabs and the Iranian sabre rattling is going nowhere fast.

The war-mongers will have to hurry because those anodyne CDMA phragmented photons will be suffusing their frazzled brains and peace light harmony happiness health prosperity fun and love will break out instead of high octane phragmentation bombs.

I admit that building mobile cyberspace doesn't make as fascinating tv as does a Twin Tower double teaming attack on a clear blue morning, or a phalanx of rockets zooming into Beijing or Taipei making a LOT of noise and light, smell and blast, but it does have redeeming merit and shouldn't be dismissed out of hand.
