Let’s look at recent option trading history of FNM and FRE. In the case of FNM, the put/call open interest ratio reached a 96% percentile reading on JUly 2, and in the case of FRE, the ratio reached a 100% percentile reading on June 25. In both cases, the put/call ratio reached an extreme level before the total collapse of the stock prices. This is an emergency calling for an unusual regulatory response.
