Let us hope you are right Mr. Caruthers.

I find it curious that this mfg "defect" could be significant enough to warrant a warning on restated guidance for the year, yet insufficient to merit an Errata sheet.

It suggests that either the customer's application is so "unique" that no one else in the world could be expected to see the same effect; or that only one customer received the affected "lots." Whether the product was an ASSP or standard vanilla chip might tell us which is more likely. ...wHoo wHoo can say?

But it is extremely clear that the company sees no reason whatever to give existing or potential customers any details, limitations or warnings regarding affected chips. The only errata sheets on current products reflect older 256Kb units from 2005 and 2006 for which fixes were implemented in 2007 revisions.

This might be a "good" thing... almost... if the size of the "lots" involved is unusually small. But in any case we can be certain that it could have been... a lot worse...

Which is about as much humor I can muster at a time like this. I mean... assuming Mr. Radd doesn't slide in again. I don't recall a time when the country in general was so paranoid... or had as much reason to be.
