To promote the development of alternatives? Because he owns oil company stocks? Have to ask him.

Now if you ask me I think there should be a provisional tax that keeps a floor under gas prices (as part of a broader energy program). $4 a gallon seems to be a magic number that changes behaviour. But it should probably rise with wage inflation.
