Re."Only people who despise freedom".

dma ,you should amend that to "only economist who despise freedom......."

how many people have even any idea of of economic theory?

As for mistaking socialism for unbridled capitalism,i dont get what you are driving at.....unless you are saying unbridled capitalism is a good thing.

Personally i believe each model can suit a democracy ....in an economic up turn Milton...in an economic down turn Maynard.

If you look at the economic situation after WW1 you will see that gov debt from the war would have been defaulted upon causing an economic disaster.... just as millions of ex-soldiers were on the streets ,unemployed....

keynes was the only one who had an answer that was acceptable to elected leaders.

circumstances dictate policy...there are times when the only alternative to social upheaval is socialism in one form or other.
