Democrats and environmentalists are preventing this country from being independent of foreign oil but it just shows that the level of your analytical skills has not matured enough to understand the problem.... You're in complete denial - of course that's part of the problem but not all of the problem - obviously peak oil will one day be true and it could be true for the currently open areas in the USA. That's why we should open the remaining yet unexplored areas. The phrase is "a bridge to independence" and of course if we fail to develop alternatives during the exploration of ANWR and the OCS we will be back in this position in the future with only Coal/Shale as possible options. None of the solutions proffered can resolve the issue over night they will all require years or decades - so we should get started now. Big oil is not stupid they know where to look and they keep asking for permission - who's stopping them?
