The bucks are pretty big: offshore-mag.com If oil reserves were being hoarded, would there be a drilling boom going on, with rig lease rates shooting up, shortages of skilled personnel, new rigs being constructed in shipyards all over the world? Oil companies, like any profit seeking companies, are also responsible to investors and analysts - there is pressure to maximize profits, boost booked reserves as much as possible.
