Its passed down from one generation to the next just as alcoholism is passed generation to generation. Breaking that chain is very difficult. We all do things that hurt ourselves. Very few of us can explain why we do those things. Whether it's an addiction borne out of abusive parents or a past steeped in poverty, or a self-destructive personality shaped by the backwards culture we live in, we are all products of our circumstances. My goal over the next decade or two is to eventually mentor and tutor kids who grow up in circumstances that I could never dream of breaking out of with my own personality flaws. That to me would make a lot more of a difference than hoping that even an Obama administration will somehow save disadvantaged minorities from themselves. Tenchusatsu
