Three "nines" means the gold is at least 99.9% pure.
Four "nines" means the gold is at least 99.99% pure.

How much is that extra 0.09% of gold worth to you ?
It costs more money to refine gold to 4 nines than the inherent extra gold content.
It's not worth paying unless you have a process that demands the higher purity, such as semiconductor doping.
