I'm pretty sure the last poll I saw showed that 14% of Americans wouldn't vote for a black man, which would make you think the number is 20%+.

Well, I'm pretty sure that 90% of black Americans wouldn't vote for a white man if a black was running. So, that's about even, I'd say.

That's seriously better than it would've been 50 years ago, but still isn't good.

I think if 90% of Americans can say they are "comfortable" with the idea of a black president, that is DAMNED good. Obviously, you are too young to remember segregation, where blacks were truly treated as second class citizens. But many of us here do remember it, and to suggest that it "isn't good" if you have 10% of Americans who don't like the idea, well, I can't see how anyone could complain about it. You just don't have any idea how bad it WAS and don't have a concept of what true racism is.

Today, racism is nearly nonexistent in this country. It will never be totally absent here or anywhere else, but the incidence of true racism is probably as low as can be achieved.

Perhaps some marginal improvement can be had if the Left stops using racism for political gain. But you will always have a very small number of people who are unwilling to accept people of different races. Most racism today is blacks against whites.
