I would hardly say that INTC is not doing well.. Much to the contrary. What many people fail to see that INTC made 88 cents even with drastic price cuts where as AMD and CYRX can't make peanuts. This quarter, flash memory contributed to 2 points of gross margin deterioration or about 4 cents of the shortfall at INTC... mix this with product transition that wasn't executed quite as well as it should have been (ie, releasing Tillamook with tons of 166MMX chips in the channel) and we see the result. Unit shipments hit an all time high. Pricing is a problem, but I think the worse of it is behind us, as far as MPUs go.

As for equipment demand... There has been much evidence to the contrary. The fact that UICC cannot find fab space in Taiwan for its customer after the fire tells me that fab capacity is tight.
