I've been ignoring you, sorry. Not intentional.

What we've been trying to do is simply explore this new area a little. Corel is deeply into VNC development now. Whether we like it or not.

Of course they should FOCUS on the SUITE. Grandiose strategies don't do anything for a company if they result in neglect of the core business. (That's about the nicest way I can put it.) The original grandiose strategy for JAVA led directly to the neglect and erosion of the retail software business and deteriorating value of the company.

So why in hell would Cowpland and the rest go and "bet the company" again on new untried product and technology - intended for a market where Corel has historically little presence - facing not just MSFT but also IBM, INTC and dozens of would be competitors?

FOCUS ON THE SUITE durn it.

So to suggest answers to my, mostly, rhetorical question. (feel free to jump in):

1) Cowpland is certifiably insane in the classical meaning.

He is so completely out of contact with reality that the only test of an idea that has meaning to him is within his own head. (borderline autistic, perhaps?)

(please, please people do not take offence at this. I'm not trying to be funny or ridicule anybody or any handicap.)

2) The retail software market simply does not provide a sufficient vehicle for the continued expansion and growth both of sales and profits. It is also very flakey and you're only as good as your latest hit.

So the decision was made, to search out and expand to other products and more stable markets.

FOCUS ON THE SUITE YOU IDIOTS the company is going to hell.

2 contd.) The JAVA thing happened. a bust. But the VNC thing, the second barrel of the shotgun has yet to be fired.

You can safely bet that the continuation has been evaluated to the most minute detail within the company. And it's still there.

The only conclusion possible from this line of reasoning is that they think they have a winner.

*********
Core Products! FOCUS! Even if it is the greatest, the VNC can't save this company from itself NOW
*********

So the search for NC/VNC material should be just a sideline for this thread. The company is doing this thing. We need to know what's going on in more detail than they are willing to reveal. The company thinks they have a winner.

We should come to our own conclusions and keep our perspective intact.

FOCUS FOCUS FOCUS - CLEAN UP YOUR SOFTWARE ACT.

Else number one above applies and all should leave in as timely a manner as possible. Just keep a few shares in case of a suit.

FOCUS ON THE SUITE

Sorry for the length. It needed to be said.
Scott: I'm with you all the way. Up up and???

Leo
