A large part of the US petrochemicals industry has been hit by high natural gas prices.

Europe seems to make their own problems with the Greens pushing biotech out of Germany. It doesn't help that the want to outlaw every "bad" chemical, including dihydrogen oxide.

Europe also seems to have lots of trouble with software, having only a few leaders, like Dassault Systems and SAP.

On the internet, there is no Baidu or Alibaba.

Europe knows how to subsidize airplane makers and make cars.
They were doing okay with mobile phones for a long time.

But most of Europe seems stuck in the 1970s.
