Oh gosh, Naomi...Sorry to hear about the flood in the house...We had the same thing happen in early 2001....flood upstairs went down to the living room walls and ceiling, and ruined it, plus some of the dining room...we were in a hotel for 7 weeks while the mess was being fixed. Turns out the blowers they had for the carpets blew black mold that was in the upstairs bedroom. We didn't know it until they took the ceiling attached valences down....crows had pecked holes in the roof, and we knew there was a big brown water mark on the ceiling, but had NO idea about the black mold....Hubby and I had been having lots of respiratory problems before, and turns out this was why....

As long as the house was totally trashed for all that time with all the furniture that had to be moved, we decided to have new carpet in the whole house except the den, paid for that ourselves, after they workers got the house back together...

We were very grateful for insurance!! We had Safeco, and they were simply wonderful!

Will be sending you both LOTS of good thoughts....it's a trying time for sure!
