Yes, Europe has its problems with backwardness. However, each of the European countries, (except France which started it) were able to adopt the metric system and make it their own. This process began in Canada 33 years ago. Because of the low level of education, the US just can't do it. Local rich taxpayers see to it that their local governments do not spend much on teachers' salaries, and they send their own kids to private schools, Who, where are the countries who manage everything wisely?
