Naomi, that reminds me of what happened to some friends recently. A young couple we know were set to get married.........they'd been living together for over a year, as youngsters are apt to do these days.........and had most of the plans arranged for a huge outdoor weekend wedding at the base of Mt. Rainier. Their living room was full of Costco, Target, Wally World and other store's goodies, and the rental truck was booked for the big weekend.
Now these two have high pressure jobs that require a lot of traveling on both their parts. Two weeks before the wedding she left for a 5 day work trip on a Monday and he left for a 3 day work trip that Wednesday, It so happened that he returned home first, which was a blessing, and when he opened the front door water came gushing out in a torrent. The house was just soaking wet. The Parque floating floor in the basement was literally floating and the whole house was all just a big, soggy mess.
Turns out the very highest toilet in the entire house had busted a hose. Lord knows when, but it ruined many wedding supplies, all of their furniture, the walls, carpet, drapes etc. Last we heard they were mucking it out, and taking lots and lots of trips to the dump. We are going to go over and evaluate the situation for them as part of our wedding gift to them as it seems the insurance co wants to total the house and just pay them the $165,000 insurance money.
They could never replace the house for that, so we're going to see if it is salvageable.
