Sounds like they are handling it much better than I would.

I've had enough water messes to suit me. In Juneau, we had water coming in thorough our living room ceiling several times. First it was coming through the tile grout in the bathrooms upstairs. Both of them. We got that fixed. Then more water. Turned out the fireplace chimney was allowing water through. We tried several contractors to patch it, unsuccessfully.

Tore down the chimney and had it rebuilt. $5000 later, we still have water coming through the ceiling.

We tore down the new chimney and replaced it with a metal pipe, which was fine since we didn't use the fireplace, which was really just a stove alcove, anyway. That cost $4000.

The mason who correctly diagnosed the problem said both brick chimneys were built improperly. They looked good, but they weren't suitable for a high rain environment.
