SNDK reports.

biz.yahoo.com

me:

NAND is looking like another abyss, one of those bottomless pits that investors get sucked into and can't get out of(sound familiar)? Ever more capacity to produce ever more bits at ever lower ASPs, with everyone getting slaughtered. Not a pretty picture. I'm sure the NAND producers fully expected SSDs to save the day, but those still appear way off on the horizon and all the extra capacity created lately is proving toxic.

This just reinforces my view that SPSN has no desire to duke it out in the NAND markets. The company is small enough and focused enough that it should be able to concentrate on niche markets where it has technical advantages and little competition.

Unfortunately, it's inevitable that some overlap between NAND and Eclipse products will occur, probably mostly in wireless. Hard to believe but things could get worse over the next few quarters. The whole memory business is going to get a lot of doses of shock therapy before there is any hope of sanity returning. Unfortunately it appears that the major players have all had frontal lobotomys and are willing to suffer a lot to drive out the weaker players.
