How was he right about the surge?

The original goals of the surge was to bring enough security to Iraq that the politicians could bring about a political reconciliation between Shia, Sunnis, and Kurds. In addition, the idea was to pass all the legislation they needed to in order to get the country on sound footing and begin reconstruction in earnest. To date, there has been no political reconciliation, no meaningful legislation, and almost no reconstruction with Iraqi oil money.

Now, since it has been a failure, the Republicans are saying the surge's purpose was to tamp down violence. That's ridiculous. Everyone in the world knows that if you flood a region with American troops, they are going to pacify the area. But that's beside the point. The WHOLE POINT is to create conditions on the ground so we can leave, not to prove US military superiority.

Again, you logic and priorities are very aligned with the neocons and devoid of a morale compass.
