The people who care about "being green", or reducing oil imports, or spending less at the pump, are more likely to buy high fuel efficiency gasoline powered cars compared to buying a typical car. Thats the same group that is more likely to buy an electric.

The type of people who want a big car, or a very powerful car, or an SUV, are the people who are least likely to buy a Volt.


I think it's both an economic decision AND and economic risk decision. Assuming you keep a car for 5 years, you are making a bet on the cost of fuel for the next five years.

The people buying fuel efficient cars right now are mostly people with inefficient vehicles. I don't see that changing.
