Since the time of the big carriers startingto form alliances,for exampleSprint is 10% owned by Deutch telecom and 1o% by the Germ,an Bundespost ,the alliances have turned into acquisitions. With the current situation involving the future of MCI and the amounts of money involved I fear for the little innovative newcomers. The CLEC's for example,IMHO,will get trampled by the thundering herd-even with the built in advantages the FCC has given them. It is going to take deep,deep,deep pockets to survive. And even with survival how long will it take to rid a company of the hugh interest payments which accrued with their debt??? Rough marketplace to try and invest in-I am only speaking of carriers not new innovative hardware and software manufacturers.
