Only dreamers will buy GTE at this level. There are several
different consequences GTE will have to face eventually:

1) GTE loses the bid to world com, then its bid was certainly considered as a market bummer, becoz the management has invested lots of time on it;

2) GTE may have to raise the bid (accroding to LEE's words on the recent conference call), that will certainly again push the share price down;

3) GTE wins the bid, then there will still be a long way to finish
the deal. Street people just hate the uncertainty.

4) GTE will carry a huge debt on its shoulder. It has to sell its
assets to pay off the debt. Or they will have to intialize some
new shares, again it will hurt the share price.

So there is no where GTE price can go, it can only go down, down and down ... I hope I am wrong though. There is a good article on WSJ today talking about the deal.

On the positive side, GTE-MCI may turn out to be a good deal when my grandchildren grow up and go to the college. Maybe I should hold my damn shares for them?
