The last thing a company like INTC can afford to do is slow down on fab expansion... the ONLY way to stay competitive now is to cut more chips per wafer, and lower the average cost of a MPU.. ie, the transition to 300mm and .25 and below will be what saves a semi-company, since it will give them the cost advantage they need.. since INTC has the deepest pockets on any semi company, they can afford to do this.. AMD, and CYRX... well, we'll have to see.
