I know you do. But what I think Rambi and I think is that it's a lot less normal to have the risk of pregnancy with every sexual encounter than it is to have a limp willy, now, in our society- and the pregnancy thing affects every fertile woman, whereas the limpness problem affects a subset of the male population. Not that limp willies aren't terribly terribly important- but not only do they seem less "disorderly" than unintended pregnancies, the logic of your classification schema just doesn't work for me.
We have medicalized pregnancy and childbirth. IMO it is a disorder now, and while you can argue from nature that it isn't or that it shouldn't be, the de facto case is that it certainly is, in our society. Regulations are made by societal bureaucrats- and they should be mindful of what is happening in the society- in fact, they have to be if they are to create sensible regulations. In OUR society, the technological one, pregnancy is a disorder, and more of a disorder than a lazy willy (despite his great importance). So regulation wise there doesn't seem much justification for not allowing birth control. Birth control ought to be one of the very first things you approve, seems to me. It works. It's cheap, and it keeps down huge costs. |
